Late Friday, the White House posted a list of roughly 480 records in response to questions about whether specific people visited the president's home. It plans to disclose comprehensive visitor lists soon. The records are a step toward making good on Obama's promise of transparency. But they also show that despite a compaign pledge to reduce special-interest influence on policymaking, lobbyists are getting face time with him and his aides. Roughly eight dozen visits with Obama are included in the records released Friday. Among the guests: Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates. He had a March 25 meeting with Obama in the oval office. Labor leader and Obama supporter Andrew Stern, president of the Service Employees International Union. Twenty-two Stern visits to the White House are reflected in the records, including at least seven with Obama. Ed Yingling, chief executive of the American Banking Association and a lobbyist. Yingling attended at least four meetings with Obama. Camden Fine, chief executive of the Independent Community Banker of America and a lobbyist for the group. Fine also met at least four times with Obama. George Clooney met with Obama and Joe Biden. Steve Elmendorf, a Democratic strategist, lobbyist and former House staff member whose lobbying clients include Ford Motor Co., United Health Group and Verizon. He attended a June 29 Obama reception and had at least four meetings with others at the White House. Anthony Podesta, whose brother , John, headed Obama's transition team, visited the White House complex at least five times, all on behalf of lobbying clients. The list also includes the names Michael Jordon, Michael Moore, William Ayers and JEREMIAH WRIGHT. The White House noted that the visitors were not actually the basketball star, the documentary filmmaker or the controversial activist and preacher--just people who share their names. I wonder if this last sentence is really the TRUTH????? One of the ten commandants is: thou shalt not lie!!!
